James Dooley: The importance of embracing artificial intelligence for entrepreneurs.

If you're an entrepreneur watching this, should you be looking to embrace AI? We're in the AI era nowadays with Claude, Perplexity, ChatGPT and Gemini. Should people be looking at AI to embrace within the business or is it just shiny object syndrome?

Craig Campbell: They should embrace it.

James Dooley: And why? What should they be embracing? What should they be doing?

Should they be using design tools for websites? What should they be doing?

Craig Campbell: Just embrace it.

[laughter]

James Dooley: He doesn't want to hug it. He doesn't want to hug the thing.

Anyway. [laughter] Take five minutes to answer the question. Surely not just “embrace it”. So with regards to embracing AI, what should people actually be doing?

Craig Campbell: Everything and anything.

First and foremost, learn what the AI capabilities are. Most people listening to this are probably coming from a digital marketing background, so they immediately think, “Can AI build links? Can AI write content? Can AI build internal links?” But as a business owner or entrepreneur, there are so many other things AI can do for you. You have your entire business sequence. You have chatbots. You have AI replying to customers. You can use AI to text potential customers and book them in automatically. If you're running a nail salon or any other business, you first need to understand what AI can actually do before you start implementing it. AI can almost do anything. We've spoken about it before. You're using it to make websites. You're using it for schema. You're using it for SEO tasks. There are probably still loads of things we do not fully understand yet. Entrepreneurs and business owners need to start testing and speaking to people and asking, “What are you doing?” That is what I love hearing now. We had the conversation this morning. How are you building your websites? How long does it take? You said you can put up a website within six minutes for a podcast, with schema and fifty articles already written. I love that. But there is so much more out there. It is still untested waters.

James Dooley: I think for me I'm probably using 0.01% of what AI can actually do.

Not even that. It is scary what can be done. Internally, our attitude is if you do not try to put yourself out of business, somebody else will. So we constantly look at what we already have and ask how AI could make it better. If we do not implement it, someone else will. That is how you create your next competitor against yourself and force yourself to level up. But with regards to the different LLMs, last month Claude and OpenClaw were all the rage. How do you advise entrepreneurs and business owners not to get shiny object syndrome every time there is a new update? I suffer from it badly. One minute I think ChatGPT is better than Claude. Then Claude becomes better than ChatGPT. I jump between them constantly and it is not good for systems and processes. How are you internally approaching that? Do you have a preferred platform you are building SOPs around?

Craig Campbell: Not yet.

I've flipped between all of them for different reasons and different tasks. Everyone is obsessed with Claude right now because it is the hot thing. But ChatGPT or Gemini could release something tomorrow and everyone will move back over there. Then your whole SOP process changes again. So I am slightly standoffish about going too aggressively into one platform because we still do not know what is around the corner. With OpenClaw and all these tools, people ran out buying Mac Minis and setting things up, then two weeks later it changed direction, became open source and suddenly had vulnerabilities. You can easily disappear down these rabbit holes, spend loads of time and money and then realise two weeks later it is not fit for purpose. When it comes to website design, I am confident Claude is good. But ultimately it is still producing HTML. So I am comfortable using it there. But I still think it is too early to say one platform is permanently the best because they are all competing against each other. I want to go all in, but I also think it is too early.

James Dooley: So moving away from digital marketing and websites, what about the other AI systems you're using?

You now have a phenomenal new brand helping businesses grow. There are voice AI systems, lead nurturing and automation tools. What other AI systems are you using that work well? Are you using AI for automated emails and overflow call centre tasks? Can you expand on how business owners can integrate AI into their businesses beyond websites?

Craig Campbell: Right after this we're meeting Gary Wilson.

What I have prepared is a document showing how much time and money we can save his business using AI. We can automate marketing. We can use AI to respond faster to inbound leads because speed matters massively in his industry. We can automate communications through email, WhatsApp, SMS and calls. We can automate social media responses. We can operate twenty-four hours a day. Gary Wilson might only have his call centre open nine to six, but AI can capture leads twenty-four seven. We can reuse data, identify lost revenue opportunities and optimise the whole process. This has nothing to do with websites. It is all about response time and getting to the lead quickly. You know this better than anyone because you've run call centres for lead generation. The reason call centres existed was speed. But now, do you need one hundred staff anymore? Probably not. AI can talk to prospects, collect data and pass hot leads onto the top salespeople. When I look at Gary Wilson’s office, it is always the same top five people winning the bonuses and converting the sales. The rest are often just churn-and-burn staff. I would rather have those top closers only handling the best leads while AI handles all the early-stage nurturing. That is exactly the type of system we are proposing. We can reduce costs and increase conversions. It is a complete no-brainer. Humans make mistakes. They say the wrong things. AI follows the script perfectly every time and works twenty-four hours a day. If someone submits an enquiry at eleven at night, AI can instantly respond, collect the data and even book appointments directly into calendars for sales staff. That means salespeople are not wasting time organising appointments and chasing basic admin. The AI handles all of that. That is where we see huge opportunities for entrepreneurs.

James Dooley: Anyone watching this, we are talking about the importance of artificial intelligence for entrepreneurs.
